Our History
Our Post was chartered on 23 March 1987 at the VFW facility in Adrian. There were fifty members on our original charter.
At that time, we selected George Chandler Bond as the Post name. He asked us to use G Chandler Bond as the name on the charter. Bond lived on Lincoln Ave in Adrian. He entered the Military 15 October 1940 and separated 19 February 1945. He was an Army Infantry officer and Commander of Company B, 126th infantry reg. He obtained the rank of Major. After being severely wounded he was awarded the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, American Defense Ribbon with one Bronze star and Distinguished Unit Badge.
In civilian life he was a Loan Officer at Commercial Savings Bank, now known as KeyBank.
